Sights

There are a few different options when it comes to sights. They can be simple and affordable, or you can move up in the technology offered for more accurate shooting. Some guns are equipped with better sights than others and some do not easily allow upgrades. Do some research on the firearm you want to purchase sights for before you decide what you’re purchasing. ·        Handgun Sights

There are five different types of handgun sights that come from the factory or can be added to your firearm. You’ll want to take a look at each to determine which sight will work best for your shooting needs.

1. Open sights are the most common; they have a notch at the back and a post at the front that allows you to match them up and shoot when aiming.
2. Fiber optic sights are very similar, but they provide bright colors that will contrast better with different targets.
3. Night sights glow much like fiber optic sights, but glow in the dark, making them useful for night shooting.
4. Red dot sights provide a small red dot to help you aim better.
5. Laser sights project onto your target, making it easier for you to identify exactly where your bullet will go.

·        Long Gun Sights

Long guns also have a few different types of sights to choose from. Determine which sight will work most efficiently for your shooting needs.

1. Iron or open sights are like handgun sights, allowing you to line up the front and back of your gun to aim at the target.
2. Peep sights provide a small lens that you look through, similar to that used for peepholes indoors.
3. Telescopic sights allow you to get better aim over longer distances.
4. Reflex sights are very common for military and law enforcement firearms; they allow you to aim quickly and shoot accurately for middle-grade distances.
5. Laser sights project a dot on your target, like that of a handgun, showing you precisely where your round will hit.
